After Surgery care

After surgery care is often as important a factor as the surgery itself, and can make a big difference to the final result.

Following their consultation, patients receive a full explanation of any proposed treatment, including the expected outcome and the possible complications. Information sheets may also be provided and patients are encouraged to ask as many questions as necessary so that they fully understand what is being planned.

Discharge following surgery

Depending on the nature of the procedure, patients can usually be allowed to go home on the same day after a brief period of post-operative observation or after a few days of hospital stay. It is advisable to ensure that a family member or friend is available to look after you in the first few days following discharge. Specific instructions about bathing, compression garments, physical activity, returning to work, and driving will be explained before you are discharged from hospital. These instructions will depend on the nature of the surgery and your general health. You may also be given some discharge medications including painkillers and antibiotics, as appropriate

Follow-ups

Following discharge, follow up appointments will be arranged by Dr Kanoi and his team. Patients are cared for post-operatively and for appropriate dressings and wound care by Dr Kanoi and his specialist team who can be contacted whenever necessary. For patients living in the city, arrangements can be made to provide extended postoperative care and dressings at the patient's residence by members of the support staff.
